Vivo is set to launch its next-generation flagship foldable, the X Fold 6, on June 26th. The Vivo X Fold 6 will make its debut in China and is expected to arrive globally, including India, later. The brand has been teasing the foldable, revealing key details. Now it has revealed the colour options and memory configurations for the Vivo X Fold 6 in China.
Vivo X Fold 6 is currently available to pre-order in China through retailers. Based on that, the Vivo X Fold 6 is confirmed to launch in four colours: Blue Cave, Salt Lake, Polar Night, and Black Gold Edition. The Blue Cave or Blue Hole (translated) is the popular colour variant among the four, featuring a deep blue shade inspired by the sea.
In China, the X Fold 6 will be available in four variants: 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, 16GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB. Chinese markets usually get multiple memory configurations, but global markets are limited to one or two.
Vivo has confirmed a few key details of the X Fold 6. It’s being touted as a “foldable mini DSLR,” with a 200MP sensor and the first Zeiss APO super periscope telephoto lens on a foldable. The foldable will also be equipped with Vivo’s Blueprint V3+ imaging chip and support the Vivo Zeiss G2 teleconverter (200mm) for enhanced zoom capabilities. This would make the Vivo X Fold 6 stand out as a foldable with powerful and versatile cameras. It might also give the X Fold 6 an edge over competing foldables like the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, as Vivo is already known to offer one of the best cameras in the flagship segment.
Vivo’s aggressive camera push here is a bold move, clearly aiming to carve out a niche in the increasingly competitive foldable space.
The Vivo X Fold 6 will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, a chipset that Vivo says was developed specifically with foldables in mind. The chipset is claimed to offer a 111 percent boost in NPU performance and a 56 percent reduction in power consumption over its predecessor. The foldable also ships with OriginOS 6 Fold and an upgraded Atomic Workbench for enhanced multitasking.
While the custom Dimensity chip promises power, the real test will be how well OriginOS 6 Fold leverages it for a truly seamless foldable experience.
Based on what has been revealed so far, the Vivo X Fold 6 appears to be a notable upgrade over its predecessor, the X Fold 5. It could offer significantly better performance, enhanced on-device AI, and improved cameras. Those looking to upgrade to a new foldable could find the Vivo X Fold 6 a worthy option. If your current foldable lacks a powerful telephoto lens or struggles with multitasking, the X Fold 6’s upgrades might be significant for you. However, if you’re already using a foldable, you might want to compare and see if the upgrades are significant.
