Chinese smartphone brand Vivo has recently introduced the new Vivo X100 series as the successor to last year's Vivo X90 series in China. The Vivo X100 brings various enhancements in display, camera, and processor when compared to the previous Vivo X90 model. Design
The Vivo X100 in blue incorporates white elements inspired by star trails, while the orange variant features a back with a leather-like appearance. The phone is designed with a sizable camera island housing four ZEISS-branded sensors and an LED flash positioned above it.
Meanwhile, the back of the Vivo X90 features a large circular camera unit that appears to contain four lenses, but in reality, it houses only three lenses. The LED flash is positioned on the top right side.
Display
The Vivo X100 is equipped with a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate. It features a resolution of 2800x1260 pixels, a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, and utilises 2,160Hz PWM dimming.
On the other hand, the Vivo X90 has a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz high refresh rate, punch-hole cutout, HDR10+ and 300Hz touch sampling rate.
The Vivo X100 comes with a triple rear camera setup bearing the ZEISS brand. This setup comprises a 50MP primary Sony IMX920 VCS bionic main camera featuring OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 64MP ZEISS super-telephoto camera with 100x clear zoom capability. For selfies, it incorporates a 32MP front-facing shooter.
Meanwhile, the Vivo X90 also features a ZEISS-branded triple rear camera setup. However, it consists of a 50MP IMX866 primary sensor with an f/1.75 aperture, OIS, EIS, and LED flash. Additionally, it includes a 12MP portrait sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 2x optical zoom, along with a 12MP ultrawide sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. For selfies and video calls, there's a 32MP front-facing camera with an f/2.45 aperture.
The Vivo X100 is equipped with the recently released MediaTek Dimensity 9300 processor, featuring a peak clock speed of 3.25GHz. In contrast, the Vivo X90 is driven by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chipset, coupled with Immortalis-G715.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 and 9200 boast robust specifications. Both have octa-core CPUs with advanced architectures, including Cortex-X4 cores. Notably, the Dimensity 9300 distinguishes itself with a higher CPU frequency, a larger L3 cache, and enhanced GPU capabilities, featuring a Mali-G720 with a frequency of 1300 MHz. It also excels in memory performance, incorporating LPDDR5T technology.
The Vivo X100 supports a maximum of 16GB LPDDR5T RAM and 1TB storage. However, the Vivo X90 can have a maximum configuration of 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB storage.
The Vivo X100 comes with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 120W wired fast charging, while the Vivo X90 is equipped with a 4,810mAh battery and supports 120W wired fast charging technology as well.
