Top tech news this week: Samsung Galaxy S24 launch date, Redmi Note 13 series India launch and more

2024 has just begun but the tech world is already buzzing with major launches in the first week itself. Xiaomi brought its popular Redmi Note 13 series to India, while the flagship Vivo X100 series also debuted here. Samsung also finally revealed the launch date for its much-awaited Galaxy S24 series. Carl Pei also made a surprise post by teasing a new Nothing phone. Xiaomi also announced HyperOS will start rolling out in India this month.

Redmi Note 13 series India launch

Redmi Note 13, Note 13+ and Note 13 Pro launched in India earlier this week. The Redmi Note 13 series has a starting price of Rs 18,999, and there are nine models in total for the entire series. The Redmi Note 13 series offers 120Hz displays, up to 120W fast charging support, 200MP primary camera, 16MP front camera and more. 

Samsung Galaxy S24 series launch date

After multiple leaks and rumours, Samsung finally revealed the launch date for the Galaxy S24 series. The next Samsung flagships are scheduled to debut globally on January 17th. The lineup will most likely include the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra. It’s speculated that the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra Indian variants will launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, while the Galaxy S24 will get the Exynos 2400 chipset.

Vivo X100 series debuts in India

Vivo’s flagship phones have also arrived in India. The Vivo X100 series is also the first in the country to come with the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC. Vivo X100 starts at Rs 63,999 for the 12GB + 256GB model, and Rs 89,999 for the 16GB + 512GB variant. The Vivo X100 series stand out for its cameras housing a 50MP triple camera setup. The Vivo X100 Pro also features a dedicated V3 imaging chip.

New Nothing Phone officially confirmed

A new Nothing phone has been officially confirmed by the brand’s CEO Carl Pei. No details have been revealed so far but there have been rumours about a Nothing Phone (2a) in the works. This will be a toned-down version of the flagship Nothing Phone (2). It could feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and run the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor under its hood.

Xiaomi HyperOS rollout in India

Xiaomi announced HyperOS will start rolling out in India this month. In India, Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi Pad 6 will be the first batch of devices to get the HyperOS update. More devices will be added to the roadmap later. HyperOS is the new operating system for Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices. The new operating system comes with performance improvements, AI features, smoother animations and minor UI tweaks.
