  • While battery is its major USP, the handset also focuses on its design and durability.
  • The Vivo Y51 Pro is available for sale in India via the official Vivo website, Flipkart, and partnered retail stores.

Just days after 91mobiles confirmed the Vivo Y51 Pro 5G’s specifications and other key details, the handset has now been officially launched in India. It will go on sale starting March 11th across the country via the company’s official website, Flipkart, and authorised retail stores. The Vivo Y51 Pro 5G price in India starts at Rs 24,999 for the base variant with 128GB of storage, while the 256GB model is priced at Rs 27,999. The handset is available in Festive Red and Noble Gold colour options. As part of the launch offers, buyers can also avail of up to Rs 2,500 cashback.

The Vivo Y51 Pro 5G boasts a design similar to the Vivo V70 series. The handset rocks a squarish camera module and flat edges. The Y51 Pro 5G also matches the durability of its more expensive counterpart, with an IP68 and IP69 rating to safeguard it against dust, submersion in water up to 1.5 metres, and high-pressure water jets.

Additionally, the smartphone carries the SGS 5-Star Premium Performance Mark for drop resistance and is certified to military-grade durability standards. Vivo claims the device has undergone multi-angle drop testing from heights of up to 1.7 metres. This gives it an added advantage against some of the similarly priced smartphones, such as the OnePlus Nord CE5 and Redmi Note 15, which lack an IP68 rating – let alone military-grade durability certification.

Coming to the specifications, the Vivo V51 Pro grabs headlines with its massive 7,200mAh battery, which is among the largest in the segment. Whether it also excels in endurance is something we will determine in our full review, so stay tuned. That said, the device should still be comfortable to carry around.

Despite packing such a large battery, the handset measures just 8.49mm in thickness and weighs 219 grams. This is likely due to the Silicon-Carbon battery technology used inside, which is designed to deliver improved energy density and long-term reliability. The phone also supports Bypass Charging to optimise charging efficiency and reduce battery wear, and Vivo claims the battery can maintain its health for up to six years for sustained performance over time.

The phone supports 44W FlashCharge wired charging, which is fairly standard for smartphones in this price segment. Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 SoC, paired with 8GB of RAM. Notably, the same chipset debuted with the Vivo V60e last year. While it wasn’t the most powerful processor in its class at the time, it delivered reliable performance for everyday tasks and casual gaming. If you are a power user, the OnePlus Nord CE5 and Lava Agni 4 might be better alternatives.

Moving on, the Vivo Y51 Pro sports a dual-camera setup, with a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP auxiliary sensor. The front camera is an 8MP snapper for selfies and video calling. Not only are these lower in resolution than the Vivo V70 series, but they also lack Zeiss branding. We would advise you to keep your expectations low with the cameras of this device, although a detailed analysis will give us a better picture of how it stands against the competitors.

The display is where the Vivo Y51 Pro may feel slightly underwhelming. The official renders reveal noticeably chunky bezels around the 6.75-inch LCD panel – among the thickest seen on contemporary smartphones in this segment. The screen offers an HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 1,250 nits of peak brightness. The viewing experience is backed by eye-comforting TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification and dual stereo speakers, powered by Super Audio Algorithms, to deliver a rich and immersive audio experience.

On the software front, the handset boots OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 out of the box. This is the same software experience Vivo offers on its flagship devices, so users can expect a largely similar interface and feature set.
