Vivo is preparing to launch its next flagship smartphone series, and the company has now started teasing the upcoming X500 lineup. Ahead of the official launch, a senior Vivo executive has shared a new Weibo post that gives us a closer look at what the company has planned for its next-generation flagship phones.
The vivo X500 series will officially launch in China on September 21, with the X500 Pro Max expected to sit at the top of the lineup. Here’s everything the latest teaser reveals about the upcoming phone.

Vivo X500 Pro Max design teased
Huang Tao’s new Weibo post gives us our first clear look at the vivo X500 Pro Max’s design. The phone appears to follow a similar design language to the X300 Ultra, with a large circular camera island housing three camera sensors on the rear. This suggests Vivo continues to put photography at the centre of its flagship design.
The post also shows the phone in at least two colour options, orange and silver. Vivo has not revealed the full list of colours yet, so there could be more options when the phone launches.
The X500 Pro Max will also support Vivo’s camera accessories, including the camera grip and second-generation telephoto extender. The latter was introduced with the X300 Ultra and can extend the focal range to a 400mm equivalent, or roughly 17x zoom. This could make the X500 Pro Max especially relevant for users who want better zoom capabilities from a smartphone camera.
Vivo X500 Pro Max: what we know so far
The Vivo X500 Pro Max, like its predecessors, is a camera-focused flagship. Some previous leaks point to a 200MP telephoto camera alongside a 50MP main and 50MP ultra-wide sensor. The phone is also expected to feature a 6.83-inch 2K display and MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset.
It has already appeared on Geekbench, although the early engineering sample results could prove to be different from the final product. A previous leak also claimed that the X500 Pro Max could come with up to an 8,000mAh battery, which is substantially higher than the 6,510mAh in the Vivo X300 Pro.
For Indian buyers, the X500 Pro Max could become a good option if cameras are a priority. The phone will support Vivo’s camera grip and second-generation telephoto extender, which we saw in the X300 Ultra. Vivo has confirmed that the X500 series will launch in China on September 21, but an India launch has not been announced yet.
Vivo usually launches its X series models in India in late October or early November, so if you’re planning to buy a flagship soon and don’t need an immediate upgrade, it makes sense to wait and see what Vivo brings to India.
