Xiaomi is readying its next set of flagships for release and teasers have started spilling the beans on what to expect from the next T-series of phones. The Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro are confirmed to launch globally on May 28th and ahead of that, the company has confirmed the chipset and battery details of the Pro model. That model is not launching in India as Xiaomi has only confirmed the 17T for the India debut on June 4th.

Xiaomi 17T Pro chipset, battery specifications

The Xiaomi 17T Pro is confirmed to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. This is not a “sub-flagship” processor by any means and powers the Vivo X300 and Vivo X300 Pro, and OPPO Find X9 and X9 Pro models. In contrast, Xiaomi’s standard flagship, the Xiaomi 17 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Compared to the Qualcomm chipset, the Dimensity 9500 has a more powerful GPU, stays significantly cooler, and uses less battery under heavy gaming loads.

Speaking of battery, the Xiaomi 17T is confirmed to pack a 7,000mAh Si-C cell, larger than the standard 17’s 6,330mAh. The 17T Pro appears to be taking a different approach by prioritising battery size and multimedia-focused hardware. When Xiaomi launched its 17 series flagship phones late last year, 7,000mAh batteries in cellphones was just starting to become normal. So with the 17T Pro, the company may be trying to make up for the relatively smaller battery in the standard model.

According to recent leaks, the Xiaomi 17T Pro could feature a 6.83-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a triple rear camera setup, and a 32MP front camera. The standard Xiaomi 17T, meanwhile, is tipped to come with a smaller 6.59-inch display, a 50MP primary rear camera, a 32MP selfie camera, and a 6,500mAh battery. It is also expected to use the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset.

For Indian buyers, the absence of the Xiaomi 17T Pro may leave the standard 17T carrying most of the series’ appeal locally. If Xiaomi prices it aggressively, the phone could target users looking for a balance between battery life, camera hardware, and flagship-style performance without moving into ultra-premium pricing territory.
