Nothing Phone 2a Community Edition Project: what is it?

The Community Edition Project is Nothing’s initiative to co-create products with community members. For starters, they are inviting ideas for a custom edition Phone (2a) (review). This will include everything from the design of the product to designing wallpapers, packaging, and how the new phone will be marketed. 

Carl says perhaps in the future even the community can contribute to the software code of Nothing OS or even collaborate in building new products.

He admits this may be a costly endeavour both in money and effort terms, but expects to attract a lot of creative minds.

Nothing Phone 2a Community Edition Project submission rules

• When can you submit it: Rob says the submissions are being accepted now.
• Who can submit: They are open to everyone regardless of whether you are a new or old community member.
• How to submit: You can submit your idea in written form, a sketch or as a video through this dedicated page.
• Four stages: The process will consist of 4 stages viz. design in March, wallpaper in May, packaging in June and marketing campaign in July.
• Selection criteria: Your idea should resonate with the Nothing team. Your personality and work ethic should fit with the Nothing team. So, tell about yourself also in the submissions you make. Once a submission period ends, the voting begins and they will be judged by an “internal Nothing panel”.
• Duration: It will extend for 6 months.
