Dell Pro Plus Earbuds (EB525) Review: Your work buddy that can game too

Finding the right pair of earbuds that can handle both work calls and downtime isn’t as easy as it sounds. Most options either focus on great music or decent call quality, rarely both. The Dell Pro Plus Earbuds (EB525) aim to change that by putting productivity first, while still offering enough versatility for everyday use. But do they strike the right balance, or lean too heavily into the work side of things? Let’s find out.

Black tie, no nonsense

The first thing you notice about the Dell Pro Plus Earbuds (EB525) is how unapologetically professional they look. There’s no flashy lighting, no glossy accents screaming for attention. Instead, you get a clean matte black finish that feels like it belongs in a boardroom. The stem design is familiar, but it leans more towards function than fashion, and honestly, that works in its favor.

Pick them up, and the build immediately feels reassuring. The case has a solid hinge, the buds feel sturdy, and nothing about this setup feels cheap. Comfort is where things get surprisingly impressive. Dell includes four ear tip sizes: XS, S, M, and L, which is rare. Most brands stop at three, but that extra XS option genuinely makes a difference. If you’ve ever struggled to find a snug fit, this might just be your fix.

What’s more, is that at just 6 grams per earbud, these are ridiculously easy to wear for long stretches. I’ve personally used them for back-to-back 4-hour calls without that annoying “ears need a break” feeling. Add the IP54 rating into the mix, and you’ve got buds that can handle a sweaty commute or light drizzle without breaking a sweat.

The dongle that changes everything

Let’s talk about what truly sets these earbuds apart: the tiny USB-C wireless receiver tucked neatly inside the case. This 2.4GHz dongle might sound like a small addition, but in real-world usage, it’s a game-changer. If you’ve ever dealt with Windows Bluetooth acting up, be it random disconnects or audio lag, you’ll instantly appreciate this. Plug in the dongle, and boom, you get a stable, low-latency connection that just works. No fuss, no drama.

Not to forget that this feature works really well for gamers too, as it ensures low-latency gaming without any issues. In fact, I’ve actually been using these TWS more than my gaming headphones, and the experience has been amazing.

Multipoint connectivity is equally seamless. I had the earbuds connected to my laptop via the dongle and my phone via Bluetooth at the same time. Switching between devices felt almost effortless. A call on the phone interrupts your PC meeting? You can jump between them without digging into settings.

Smart features that actually matter

Dell hasn’t overloaded these earbuds with gimmicks, and that’s refreshing. Instead, you get features that genuinely improve day-to-day usage. The companion apps, Dell Audio on mobile and Dell Display & Peripheral Manager on PC, are clean and functional. You won’t get overwhelmed, but you still have enough control to tweak things to your liking.

One standout feature is sidetone control. If you’ve ever found yourself unintentionally shouting during calls because of ANC, you’ll love this. It lets you control how much of your own voice you hear, making conversations feel far more natural. Wear detection is also spot on. Pull an earbud out, and your music pauses instantly while your mic mutes during calls. It’s quick, responsive, and works exactly how you expect it to.

Sound check

Let’s get one thing straight: these earbuds are not trying to compete with bass-heavy consumer TWS options. Instead, they’re tuned for clarity, and that shows the moment you hit play.

Vocals are crisp and forward, making podcasts, calls, and even YouTube videos sound excellent. Dialogue feels clean and easy to follow, which is exactly what you want from a work-focused pair of earbuds. Music performance is decent, but it leans towards a neutral sound signature. The 11.6mm drivers deliver tight, controlled bass, but don’t expect that deep, rumbling thump. Even with EQ adjustments, the experience remains balanced rather than punchy.

As expected, the soundstage is slightly narrower compared to premium options from Sony or Bose, but it’s not a dealbreaker. In fact, for casual entertainment needs and gaming, it works surprisingly well. You can still pick up directional cues like footsteps, which is a nice bonus if you game occasionally. It’s not gonna replace the best gaming headphones, obviously, but if you prefer something extremely lightweight and comfortable, this is a really good option.

Mic drop moment

Of course, the real star of the show is the microphone here. It’s genuinely among the best you’ll find on any TWS earbuds right now.

Unlike typical earbuds that rely solely on beamforming, Dell has equipped these with a dedicated Voice Processing Unit (VPU) combined with AI trained on hundreds of millions of noise samples. The result? Your voice cuts through almost any background noise.

I tested these in less-than-ideal conditions, such as typing loudly on a mechanical keyboard, and even with a fully packed office in the background. On the other end, people could barely hear any of it. All they heard was my voice, loud and clear. For professionals, this is a huge win. And even for gamers, this means you get crystal-clear voice comms without needing a bulky headset mic. It’s one of those features you don’t realize you need until you experience it.

A battery that keeps up

Battery life is another area where these earbuds deliver exactly what you’d expect from a productivity-focused device. With ANC turned on, I consistently got around 8 hours of usage on a single charge.

The case adds roughly three additional charges, bringing the total to about 33 hours. As for charging, a 5-minute top-up gives you about an hour of usage, which can be a lifesaver when you’re jumping between meetings. Charging options are flexible, too. You can use USB-C for wired charging or simply place the case on a Qi wireless charging pad.

Verdict: Built for 9-to-5 (and a bit more)

At Rs. 18,899, the Dell Pro Plus Earbuds (EB525) aren’t exactly an impulse buy, but they’re also not trying to be your typical music-first TWS. What you’re really paying for here is a productivity-focused audio tool. It’s something that can handle back-to-back meetings, seamless multi-device switching, and lag-free connectivity thanks to that 2.4GHz dongle. For anyone juggling work calls on a laptop and personal use on a phone, these can easily replace a traditional office headset while still being versatile enough for casual listening or even gaming.

That said, these earbuds clearly prioritize function over flair. The mic quality, connectivity, and overall reliability are where they truly shine, making them perfect for hybrid users who need one device for both work and downtime. But if the goal is deep bass, immersive music, or a more entertainment-first experience, there are better and more affordable options out there. Simply put, these are built to make your workday smoother, and they do that exceptionally well.
