Realme has launched the Realme GT 8 Pro and GT 8 phones in China, its flagship series focussed on camera technology, battery life, and performance. The GT 8 Pro features Ricoh GR optics, a partnership that introduces improved colour science and modes to the phone’s camera system.

Design-wise, the Realme GT 8 and GT 8 Pro look similarly, with the main difference being the absence of customisable camera islands on the former. Both smartphones come in white, green, and blue colour variants. The green version has a micro-textured back, whereas the rest have a matte finish. The GT 8 is driven by last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, while the Pro features the recent Elite Gen 5. One of the features of the GT 8 is the 7,000mAh battery, which has support for 100W wired charging, allowing a charge to full in around 45 minutes. Wireless charging is not supported in this model. In the Pro model, there is faster 120W charging along with wireless support.

The Realme GT 8 Pro primary camera employs a 50MP 1/1.56-inch sensor, coupled with a 22mm lens and an array of modes such as Hi-contrast B&W, Monotone, and Standard. Ricoh’s calibration is designed to produce clear photos with realistic colors and equalised contrast. The device also comes equipped with a 200MP zoom camera and an ultrawide high-resolution sensor, which makes it appropriate for multiple photography applications.

Both models have a 6.79-inch 1440p AMOLED screen with a 144Hz LTPO panel. The GT 8 comes with up to 2,000 nits of standard high brightness and up to 4,000 nits peak, guaranteeing visibility in different conditions. Although both models have differing camera hardware, both apply Ricoh’s colour science. The GT 8 has a secondary camera that consists of a 50MP telephoto with an 80mm lens and an 8MP ultrawide, a departure from the Pro’s more highly specified units. The phones come with Android 16-based Realme UI 7.0, and the camera app has a revised interface to allow for Ricoh’s input.

The Realme GT 8 series features an in-display fingerprint sensor along with facial recognition support for improved security for the device. Included among the built-in sensors are a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, color temperature sensor, electronic compass, accelerometer, gyroscope, and hall sensor. In terms of connectivity, both the GT 8 and GT 8 Pro feature Bluetooth 6, Wi-Fi 7, as well as NFC capabilities. The dimensions of the Realme GT 8 Pro are about 161.8 x 76.87 x 8.3 mm and it weighs around 218 grams, depending on the color model.

Realme GT 8 pricing begins at CNY 2,899 (around Rs 35,700), with the top model costing CNY 4,099 (around Rs 50,500) for 16GB of RAM and 1TB storage. Realme GT 8 and GT 8 Pro are now available for sale in China in several configurations, looking to provide cutting-edge smartphone photography and long battery life at affordable prices.
