The song "Can't Handle This" caused speculation regarding Bo Burnham's mental state among fans. Burnham responded that the song reflects his on-stage persona than himself, as well as taking a break from performing and touring.
Bo has stated in an interview that during this tour he received backlash from the audience for his song "Kill Yourself" when he was performing on a college campus for it handling a sensitive subject. Bo has gone on the record saying that because of this incident he no longer performs the song at college campuses.
This is Bo's third one hour special following "Words Words Words" and "what." which were all 3 years apart.
This special is a Netflix Exclusive even though his last special "what." was released on both Netflix and his YouTube channel.
After the opening cinematic sequence with the red nose, Bo opens up the show with a hooded man, presumably Bo, sitting on a stool in front of the audience. After the audience cheers for the figure for a while, Bo (the real Bo) comes on stage and shooes the figure away. This is a homage to his previous Netflix special, what, where he started the show by actually sitting on a stool with a hood on.
