Pushpa 2: The Rule, the second instalment of the much loved Pushpa: The Rise, is scheduled for release on August 15th, 2024. Ahead of that, reports on the OTT rights of the upcoming film have appeared online.

Initially, it was said that Amazon Prime Video bought the OTT rights of Pushpa 2: The Rule for Rs 30 crore. However, according to sources cited by OTT Play, Netflix has acquired the rights of the upcoming film.

The report suggests that Netflix paid three times more than Amazon Prime for the digital rights of Pushpa 2. It is said that director Sukumar, the creator of the film, is also reported to have received a stake from the OTT deal for Pushpa 2: The Rule.

Pushpa 2: The Rule features Allu Arjun as Molleti Pushpa Raj and Fahadh Faasil as SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. Rashmika Mandanna takes on the role of Molleti Srivalli, who is Pushpa’s wife. The cast also includes Sai Pallavi, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, and Jagapathi Babu, and other actors in the film include Prakash Raj and Sunil as Mangalam Srinu among others.

The Pushpa 2: The Rule narrates the ongoing story of Pushpa Raj, played by Allu Arjun, a red sandalwood smuggler based in the Seshachalam forest of Andhra Pradesh. The first part showcased his ascent in the sandalwood smuggling realm and his encounter with Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat (Fahadh Faasil), a harsh IPS officer tasked with halting illegal operations.
