Sir Michael Caine went on to say that this movie was the happiest movie he ever made. This was because filming took place during the school holidays and Sir Michael Caine was able to bring his family along to New York City, including his grandchildren and in-laws, for filming. He found a house close to the set that they all stayed at and were able to enjoy the holidays together.
The fictional bank in the movie is the Williamsburg Savings Bank. There was a real-life bank by that name that was taken over by HSBC Bank. The interior of the bank was filmed in the actual WSB building in Brooklyn, New York, which has landmark status.
The restaurant where Willie, Joe, and Albert meet for lunch is the same where Jimmy Conway usually met with Henry Hill in Goodfellas (1990).

When the three men visit a marijuana store, one of the flavors of marijuana is called "Strawberry Cough". In Children of Men (2006), Sir Michael Caine's character named a marijuana strand the same name.
