Luther: The Fallen Sun is a crime thriller film that tells the story of a wealthy trader and serial killer David Robey who blackmails and kidnaps cleaner Callum Aldrich, as DCI John Luther is assigned to the case to help solve it. The movie's direction and cinematography are average, with a wannabe James Bond film that fails to excite audiences. Idris Elba delivers another strong performance as Luther, providing the much-needed action on screen. Further, the themes of crime and thriller are explored in a compelling manner that raises important questions. Overall, Luther: The Fallen Sun is a well-made action thriller that is a good one-time watch, but not one that is made for the hardcore crime thriller buff who lives off of James Bond and Mission Impossible films. Watch it for the amazing acting by the top lead characters and the rather unique plot that it presents.
Idris Elba has confirmed that this film will begin filming sometime in 2021.
