Story

Mela is considered Aamir Khan's worst film and he himself has said that the film was one of his biggest mistakes in his film career. He said that the film was not the way he wanted it to be at all, and had many disagreements with director Dharmesh Darshan. Most days Aamir became so upset that he would even refuse to film. And when the film released, Aamir was extremely disappointed with the final outcome.

According to Anil Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee, Aamir Khan shudders and gets very upset every time this film is mentioned.

Aditya Pancholi was signed for the villain's role but opted out when he was told he would be bare chested through out the whole film.

Aamir Khan and 'Dharmesh Dharshan' had many disagreements with the film and the film stopped several times due to these problems

The song "Chori Chori Gori Se" was edited out of the film. The song ended up being used in the Hollywood movie The Guru. The song was used in ending scene although in Mela.
