Rotten TomatoesThe most powerful aspect of "Men" is its eerie examination of grief as it travels a difficult path to recovery. After suffering a terrible loss, our heroine flees to the tranquil and welcoming English countryside. As they frequently are in Garland's pictures, the verdant forests are serene and cool until they aren't. She has far more room than she needs at the beautiful manor she has rented until she has nowhere to run. Harper is guided by Jessie Buckley through the myriad dangers that lie in wait with a trepidation that gradually turns to terror. She is dragging us along with her as she fights for both her sanity and her safety, and her sentiments are right there on the surface. Her on-screen appearance and performance both have an authenticity and freshness. There is a point in the film where it is obvious, we have completely lost touch with reality. Overall, it is an interesting film to watch.

Alex Garland's third feature film that he has directed. Sonoya Mizuno has acted in all of them, though just a voice performance in this film.
The outdoors are always presented in bright vivid greens, as befitting the English countryside. It also underscores the supernatural forces lurking quietly beneath the surface.
The indoors, including the walls of Harper's rented house, and the pub, are always dark red. That underscores that seeking refuge inside is no assurance of safety against the entity that pursues Harper.
The flashback scenes are all lit with an intense sunset orange.
Rory Kinnear portrays ten different characters. The only male character not played by Kinnear is James, played by Paapa Essiedu.
"[last lines] James: Look at me, Harper. [She turns to face him] James: So I died. My arm was ripped through by an iron railing. My ankle snapped, my internal organs crushed. This is what you did. Harper: James... what is it that you want from me? James: Your love. Harper: [sighs] Yeah."
