TRIVIA

Trivia

Based on a true story that occurred in the early 1900s in Earling, Iowa. There are different accounts from many people, however there is a book entitled "Begone Satan!", which was written by Father Carl Vogl approximately 80 years ago. It was translated into English by Rev. Celestine Kapsner, and published in 1973. The book was originally a very thick pamphlet that was distributed to seminaries in the United States to familiarize priests with the destructive powers of the devil through the process of possession.

The real life exorcism of Anna Ecklund that occurred in Iowa, in 1928, was not only America's first famous exorcism, it was one of the last in America officially sanctioned by the Catholic Church. Many other infamous actions in the United States (including the notorious "Robbie Mannheim" case from the 1940s which was the catalyst for William Peter Blatty's novel The Exorcist) did not have full authority of the Catholic Church behind them.

The real life Anna Ecklund is also known in some documentations of the case as Emma Schmidt.

The film was shot on location at Llanelly House in Llanelli and the Norwegian Church in Cardiff Bay as well as at various interior locations around Mumbles in Swansea, South Wales.

In the UK, the DVD reached #2 in the HMV New Releases Chart in it's first week of release.
