In October, Amazon India announced up to a 50 per cent price hike on its Amazon Prime membership plans in India. The revised prices will be coming into effect starting tomorrow, i.e. December 14th. From tomorrow, the yearly Prime membership plan will cost Rs 1,499 instead of Rs 999, reflecting a 50 per cent hike. The prices of monthly and quarterly Amazon Prime membership plans have also been hiked by 39 per cent. This means today is the last day Amazon is offering Prime membership at its old price of Rs 999. As per the Amazon Prime Membership Fee help page, the revised price of Prime membership will come into effect on December 14th at midnight. However, interested customers can subscribe to Amazon Prime at old prices. The old Amazon Prime membership pricing will be valid until the end of today, i.e. December 13th at 11:59 PM. Today, customers can buy or renew the Amazon Prime membership at Rs 999 for a year, while the monthly and quarterly memberships plan will be available for Rs 129 and Rs 329, respectively.
The Amazon help page reads, “Currently, you can join Prime and lock in the old price as part of a limited period offer that Amazon is running. We recommend that you renew or buy Prime as soon as possible before the offer ends on 13-Dec-2021 at 11:59 PM.”
Existing Amazon Prime members can continue using the Prime benefits until their membership lasts. However, existing members would need to enable auto-renewal to renew the Prime membership at its old pricing, or they would have to join the Prime again at revised prices. Amazon will not automatically charge its existing customers with the new price. Customers can also take benefit of the Youth Offer during the limited period offer
