Apple will reportedly launch new iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Air on May 6th

New iPads from Apple have been rumoured extensively with the launch expected to take place soon. A new report now suggests a more accurate launch timeline, which could be as early as May 6th. If not, the new iPads should launch sometime in early May. Apple is expected to revamp its iPad lineup with new Pro and Air models. There's also a new Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil tipped to debut. 

New iPad launch date tipped

• Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has been consistent with new iPad reports, and he now says that the launch will most likely take place on May 6th. 
• In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman adds that this would be "one of the biggest updates to the Apple tablet in a single day."
• The specific launch timeline comes from news about Apple retail stores receiving new product marketing materials around the first week of May. This points towards a new product release by Apple, according to Gurman. 
• The new iPad Pro and Air models were first reported to launch in March but that never happened. The launch timeline has now been shifted to early May so we'll hopefully see the new tablets this time.
• There is one disappointing factor though about the new iPads launching at "higher price points" than the previous models. 

Two iPad models with model numbers A2836 and A2837 were recently spotted on the BIS certification website. These could be the new iPad Pro and Air models in question. The BIS listing suggests the new iPads are coming to India soon. This means you can expect them to go on sale in India next month following their official announcement on the 6th.

New iPad Pro, iPad Air details

Apple is reportedly planning to launch two new iPad Pro models with OLED displays. The use of OLED displays instead of mini-LED is said to make the iPads slimmer. The 2024 iPad Pro models are also tipped to feature a landscape-oriented Face ID camera.

A 12.9-inch iPad Air is also expected to launch for the first time, making it the biggest in the series. So far, Apple has launched 12.9-inch models only for the iPad Pro series. The 12.9-inch iPad Air will most likely feature the Touch ID button on top with the speaker grilles located on the top and bottom as well.

Apple is also reportedly planning to refresh the iPad and iPad mini lineup but these won't launch anytime soon. The new iPad model is said to be a cost-reduced version of the 2022 10th gen iPad, and the iPad mini might only come with an upgraded chipset.
