Nothing Phone (2a) green line display issue crops up, only case reported so far

Highlights
  • Nothing Phone (2a) has reportedly been affected by the green line issue.
  • This was shared by a Phone (2a) user on X.
  • It seems to be the only Phone (2a) green line case so far.

Nothing has also become a victim of the green line issue that has affected smartphones from brands like Samsung and OnePlus. Nothing Phone (2a) green line issue has been reported by a user in India who shared photos of his device affected by it. This seems to be an isolated case with no other reports of the green line appearing on the Nothing Phone (2a) screen.

Nothing Phone (2a) green line issue

  • An X user posted photos of the Nothing Phone (2a) showing a thin green line running along the device screen. It appears on the right side of the screen.
  • A video has been attached as well where the exact line is visible but here it looks more like a scratch, and the green colour isn’t that visible. But the user alleges that this Phone (2a) is indeed showing the green line on the screen.
  • From the screenshots, we can also see that this Nothing Phone (2a) has been updated to the latest Nothing OS 2.5.5.a update. So the issue might have occurred after the software update.
  • The user hasn’t shared the reason behind the green line suddenly appearing on the device. However, there have been cases where phones have been affected without any external damage.

This green line issue reportedly affects smartphones with OLED displays. And unfortunately, the damage is permanent. The only solution also appears to be a screen replacement. Brands like OnePlus which had several phones affected by this issue, offered lifetime screen warranty and free screen replacement. Samsung also offered free display replacement for Galaxy S21 and S22 series phones affected by the green line.

As mentioned above, this seems to be a single case for the Phone (2a) green line issue. The brand is yet to respond to this but if the issue is legitimate then Nothing will have to do some damage control.
