Apple is reportedly planning a major iPad Pro overhaul with display upgrades, a new Magic Keyboard, and more. This is also said to be the biggest update to the lineup ever since 2018. The most recent iPad Pro was announced in October last year, and it launched with the in-house M2 chip. So far the iPad Pro lineup has been getting incremental upgrades but nothing too dramatic.
Major iPad Pro upgrade planned
- The new iPad Pro lineup will feature two models, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The smaller model will feature an 11-inch display, and the bigger one will come with a 13-inch display.
- Apple is also expected to use OLED screens for the new iPad Pro lineup. This would mean a shift from not just the mini-LED technology but the older LED one as well.
- Gurman says the new displays will be, “crisper and brighter, and reproduce colors more accurately.”
- The new iPad Pro lineup will be powered by the M3 chip that is expected to debut later this year in new Macs.
New Magic Keyboard
In addition to new iPad Pro models, Apple is also reportedly planning to launch a new Magic Keyboard. This would be the second Magic Keyboard model as there has been no upgrades for the first one that launched in 2020. The new Magic Keyboard is said to feature a larger trackpad as one of the key changes. Gurman also says that the new Magic Keyboard will make the iPad Pro “look even more like a laptop than the current setup.”
New iPad Pro launch timeline
There’s still a long time until Apple launches new iPad Pro models as the release is expected to take place in spring or early summer next year. We might also not see any other iPad Pro model until then as there no updates planned.
