Apple iPhone X successor allegedly spotted on Geekbench with iOS 12 and 4GB RAM

There have been several reports in the past about Apple's plan to unveil three iPhones this year – one with a 5.8-inch OLED display, a larger model with a 6.5-inch OLED panel, and a relatively affordable variant with a 6.1-inch TFT LCD. These smartphones have been part of several leaks in the past including leaked images for the 6.1-inch display-toting smartphone and dummy models of all three variants. Now, one of these three handsets has been spotted on the popular benchmarking website, Geekbench, with improved processor compared to last year's iPhone X (review), as per the listing.

As per Geekbench, we can see that the upcoming iPhone will boot the latest iOS 12, which isn't much of a surprise and is powered by a D321AP processor. The processor seems to be an upgrade over the Apple A11 Bionic SoC which powers the iPhone X, and has the model number D22AP. Further, the new iPhone is spotted with 4GB RAM as compared to 3GB on the last year's iPhone. The upgrade is also visible in the benchmarking score as the smartphone scored 4,673 in the single core test and 10,912 in multi-core test. In comparison, the iPhone X scored around 4,200 and 10,000 in these tests, respectively.

The model number seen on the Geekbench is the iPhone11,2, hinting at the fact that the forthcoming handset might be called the iPhone 11, after all. However, Apple has a tendency to keep the naming under wraps and there have been speculations that this year's iPhones could also be called iPhone X (2018) and iPhone X Plus. Therefore, we suggest taking this bit of information with a pinch of salt. The Geekbench listing doesn't reveal anything further about the upcoming iPhone, or even which iPhone it is.

Apple is expected to launch the upcoming iPhones around its usual timeframe of September. So we'll still need to wait to see if any of this turns out to be true.
