Apple has revealed the start date and duration of this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The exact itinerary is yet to be announced, but you can look forward to iOS 18 for iPhones and newer versions of other software like macOS, watchOS, and so on. Let’s take a rundown of everything expected at the WWDC 2024 event:
Apple WWDC 2024 date and venue
- Apple has scheduled WWDC 2024 at Apple Park, Cupertino, California on June 10th, 2024.
- The event will carry on till June 14, 2024.
- The entry is free for all developers. The devs will get access to Apple experts and “insight” into new tools, frameworks, and features.
- There will also be an in-person experience session on June 10th, which includes meeting with Apple team members and participating in special activities.
- Interested devs can send requests to attend the event on the Apple Developer site and app. You can send in requests till 11:59 PM PT on Wednesday, April 3rd or 12:29 PM on April 4th.
- Attending developers can grab the badge and get a welcome reception at Apple Infinite Loop Campus.
Apple has preluded the major annual updates of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. The iPhone software will be the most anticipated one among the lot.
iOS 18 and AI announcements (expected)
iOS 18 is said to bring on-device AI capabilities. We have heard reports of Apple partnering with Google to incorporate Gemini AI into the new iOS version. In the Chinese market, it could be collaborating with Baidu for this. Earlier this year, Apple CEO Tim Cook had claimed the company will “break new ground” with its AI rollout.
Besides generative AI use cases, we are also expecting AI to improve Siri and other iOS apps like Apple Music, Keynote and Pages.
As per Ben Reitzes, a head tech researcher at Melius Research (via CNBC), Apple could also announce a new AI app store at WWDC 2024.
