If you own an iPhone or an iPad, you will be receiving the latest iOS 17/iPadOS 17 update soon after WWDC 2023, provided your device is not a part of this list.
According to a new report by MacRumors, Apple might provide the latest iOS 17 update to two generations of iPhones which received the iOS 16 update. This necessarily means that the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the iPhone X will not make it to the list and won't receive the latest update. This also means that the devices launched after the said iPhones will be eligible for the iOS 17 update. Here's the list of the potentially eligible iPhones:
As for the iPads, a few iPad models won't receive the upcoming iPadOS 17 update, as per the report. If you are using the first-generation iPad Pro 9.7-inch, iPad Pro 12.9-inch, or the iPad (fifth generation), chances are that your device won't be receiving the latest iPadOS 17 update.
The report states that Apple will offer some "nice to have" iOS features with the upcoming update, which more or less denies the previous rumours, which claimed that the update will be a mere incremental update and will focus primarily on stability and efficiency. It remains to be seen whether the new report actually is true or not, but chances of these devices missing out on the upcoming update seem to be highly likely.
