The Indian government recently banned Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) in the country over concerns regarding data being shared directly or indirectly to servers in China, among other reasons. This isn't a surprising move from the government as it has done the same with hundreds of apps and games that had servers in China in the past. In fact, BGMI was launched as a rebranded version of PUBG Mobile, after the latter was banned in 2020 for similar reasons. BGMI ban has been a major blow for Indian esports scene as it is one of the biggest games in the country.
