Citroen eC3 EV hatchback unveiled in India: 320km range, fast charging, 10.2-inch infotainment

Citroen India has finally taken the wraps off of the new Citroen eC3 EV hatchback and will soon announce prices for it. The electrified version of the C3 hatchback that is already on sale in India will get a 29.2kWh battery pack that will deliver a claimed range of 320km.

The eC3 hatchback will get features like 10.2-inch infotainment, dual airbags and ABS, regenerative braking and driving modes. The Citroen electric hatchback will compete directly with the recently launched Tata Tiago EV that has a claimed range of 315km. 

Citroen eC3 unveiled in India

The Citroen eC3 looks similar to its ICE-powered sibling the C3 hatchback from the French automaker. The eC3 gets a distinctive styling, especially in the vehicle’s shade of orange press colour. The eC3 carries SUV-derived styling and features 170mm of ground clearance. The Citroen eC3 gets a slightly revised central floor console that now houses the electronic gear selector in place of the manual transmission level as found on the ICE-powered C3. 

The Citroen eC3 gets a 29.2kWh battery pack and is paired with an electric motor that is rated for 57hp of peak power and 143Nm of peak torque. The eC3 has an ARAI-certified range of 320km and gets two driving modes eco and standard and also comes with regenerative braking. The drivetrain propels the eC3 from 0 to 60kmph in 6.8 seconds and tops out at 107kmph. The eC3 accepts DC fast charging that can juice up the vehicle from 10 to 80 percent in 57 minutes. 

The eC3 will come with a 10.2-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system and features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 4 speakers, connected car tech via MyCitroen Connect app with 35 features, dual airbags and ABS with EBD. The French automaker will also be offering a 7-year/1,40,000 km warranty on the battery pack, a 5-year/1,00,000 km warranty on the electric motor and a 3-year/1,25,000 km warranty on the car.

The Citroen eC3 is expected to be priced around the Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. Citroen will start taking bookings for the Citroen eC3 EV hatchback from January 22nd 2023 onwards.
