Google SGE launched in India
With SGE, Google essentially aims to provide better and more informative AI-powered search results. With SGE, you will get summarised answers on topics that you search for along with visual results. Google will also provide pointers that will help you explore more about the topic. It will also be easier to ask follow up questions with a more natural flow.
In India, SGE will be available in both English and Hindi. You can get started on the feature right away by following these steps:
- Sign in to Google Chrome on your desktop or Google app.
- Tap on the beaker icon on the top right corner of the browser.
- Turn on the option for SGE, generative AI in Search.
- Your search results will now be AI-powered.
Google’s new tool to watermark AI-generated images
Separately, Google launched a new tool that will help detect deepfakes in AI-generated images. This is from Google’s Deep Mind company that has launched a beta version of the tool called ‘SynthID’. This tool will essentially identify AI-generated images and add a digital watermark “directly into the pixels of an image, making it imperceptible to the human eye, but detectable for identification.”
This way if an image is AI-integrated, it will be easier to identify through the digital watermark. It will also help identify deepfakes, which are getting very difficult to recognise with AI tools only improving day by day. While there are some AI images that automatically give away its authenticity but there are some that can manage to fool people. Google’s SynthID will hopefully solve that problem.
