Google Wallet launched in India

Google Wallet has been launched for Android devices in India. The app will be available to download from the Google Play Store. The Google Wallet app isn’t directly available on the Play Store for now, but you can search for it on Chrome and follow the link to download it. Since it just launched, the app might take time to reach everyone. There’s no word on an iOS version of the app yet.

Google has partnered with popular brands including PVR & INOX, Air India, Indigo, Flipkart, and Abhibus, with more brands joining soon. So you can now easily store your movie tickets, bus and flight tickets, loyalty cards, and gift cards in one single app.

How to use Google Wallet

  • Download the Google Wallet app from the Play Store. Your Google account will be automatically linked to the app.
  • Open the app and select “Add to Wallet”. You’ll get four options to add your tickets and passes to Google Wallet.
  • Choose Photo to create a pass using any photo with a barcode or QR code.
  • Loyalty will let you add digital copies of your loyalty points from brands like Flipkart (Supercoins), Dominos, and Shoppers Stop.
  • The other two options are to add gift cards and transit passes.
  • You should also see the “Add to Google” button online or in other apps so you can directly add your boarding passes, and tickets to the app.

Google Wallet features

  • Pixel users get a bonus feature of adding their boarding pass to their Google Wallet by taking a screenshot and tapping “Add to Google Wallet.”
  • The app can also be used for your corporate badge, and this facility is available with Wavelynx and Alert Enterprise.
  • You can also create new passes from any image with a barcode or QR code. This can be used for airline boarding passes, luggage tags, or parking receipts.
  • If you want your movie ticket or any other ticket automatically added to Google Wallet then you can turn on smart personalisation settings in Gmail. This way all tickets sent to your Gmail will be added to Google Wallet.
