"Nokia's PureView brand debuted in 2012 with the launch of the Nokia 808 smartphone"
HMD Global, the home of the new Nokia phones, has obtained the rights to the PureView trademark from Microsoft. While it's a mere speculation at this point, the transaction hints that we could soon see the comeback of Nokia's PureView-branded smartphone with a focus on camera prowess. To recall, the moniker was first used back in 2012 when Nokia 808 PureView made its debut. Later, Microsoft expanded the lineup with the Windows-powered Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 1020, and Lumia 1520 handsets.
As per the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) listing, HMD Global has acquired the trademark from Microsoft on August 23th. The folks at Nokiamob.net first spotted this development. If HMD Global launches the smartphone with the brand name in the near future, it'll be the first Android-powered Nokia PureView handset.
The last smartphone under the PureView series was Lumia 950, which was launched back in 2015. However, the handsets which really made name for the brand were the Nokia 808 and the Lumia 1020, featuring a whopping 41-megapixel Zeiss camera on the rear panel.
Meanwhile, HMD Global has also registered a new trademark called "Dual Sight". While the listing hasn't revealed much about the feature, we assume that it's for Bothie feature that's available on Nokia smartphones. The mode enables users to take images from the rear as well as the front-facing camera, simultaneously.
