Intel announces 14th-gen Raptor Lake Refresh desktop processors

The all-new 14th-gen Intel desktop processors are official. The new lineup primarily offers a similar design and architecture as the current 13th-gen Raptor Lake but with faster clock speeds and increased core count for certain models.

Sitting on top of the lineup is the Core i9-14900K, which is claimed to be the world’s fastest desktop processor capable of clocking 6GHz speeds right out of the box. On the other hand, the Core i7-14700K will now come with 25% more cores, which means a total of 20 cores and 28 threads thanks to the additional four Efficient-cores (E-cores) compared with the prior generation.

The new series will continue to support Intel’s Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) which helps in fine-tuning like overclocking, under-volting, and more. The new XTU will also come with a new AI Assist feature that brings AI-guided overclocking to select unlocked Intel 14th-gen desktop processors. According to Intel, the new desktop processors will also offer support for DDR5 XMP speeds beyond 8,000 megatransfers/second (MT/S).

As for the motherboard support, the new 14th-gen series will be supported by both Intel 600 and 700 series chipsets, essentially allowing 12th-gen and 13th-gen users to upgrade without buying a new motherboard. Having said that, board partners are in fact launching refreshed motherboards with the existing 700 series chipsets to support enhanced features that arrive with the new 14th-gen range.

Additionally, the new desktop CPUs support Wi-Fi 6/6E and Bluetooth 5.3, as well as discrete support for new Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless technologies. There is also support for Thunderbolt 4 as well as upcoming Thunderbolt 5 wired connectivity that supports up to 80Gbps of bi-directional bandwidth.

Here is a look at the entire 14th-gen Raptor Lake refresh lineup.
