Apple iOS 17.2 update new features

Journal app

  • With the most recent iOS update, Apple has launched the Journal app, a health and wellness-oriented application designed to assist users in documenting daily activities and thoughts. The app was initially unveiled at the company’s WWDC event in June alongside the introduction of iOS 17.
  • Users can secure their Journal with either Touch ID or Face ID, and filters are available to facilitate the retrieval of bookmarked entries. Additionally, the app includes scheduled notifications to prompt users to write at their chosen times, and iCloud ensures the synchronisation of the entries.

Spatial video capture support

  • In the new update, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max now have the capability to capture spatial videos. These videos can be experienced in 3D when viewed through Apple’s Vision Pro mixed reality headset.
  • Additionally, the newly announced iOS 17.2 update enhances the focusing speed and accuracy of the telephoto sensors on the iPhone 15 Pro models when capturing distant objects.

Translate feature for the iPhone 15 Pro Action Button

  • The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max’s Action button now includes a translate function. This feature allows users to swiftly translate phrases or engage in conversations with individuals speaking a different language.

New feature in the Message app

  • The Messages app introduces new functionalities, such as a catch-up button that enables users to quickly navigate to the initial unread message in a conversation by tapping the arrow in the top-right corner.
  • Additionally, the Messages app now incorporates Contact Key Verification as a security measure to support individuals encountering digital threats.
The iOS 17.2 version includes several additional features, such as new Weather widgets, a Digital Clock widget, a Favourite Songs Playlist in Apple Music, a new sticker option in the context menu, AirDrop enhancements, and updates to Memoji. The tech giant has also enabled Qi2 wireless charging support for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 series.
