iPad Pro 2024 models might not be expensive

  • Apple is said to increase the price of the new iPad Pro 2024 tablet with an OLED display by around $160 (approx Rs 13,300), according to a report by DigiTimes.
  • The 11-inch iPad Pro 2022 currently starts at $799 (around Rs 66,300). A $160 or 20 percent price hike would mean the tablet will go up to $959 (approx Rs 79,600).
  • The 12.9-inch tablet with a mini-LED display currently retails at $1,099 (around Rs 91,200). The 2024 model will have a 13-inch screen and have a price tag of $1,259 (around Rs 1,04,500) after the $160 price hike.
  • The new OLED panels could be the reason for the price hike and what this means to the end user is an immersive viewing experience.
  • 60 percent of the OLED panels will be sourced from LG Display while the remaining from Samsung Display.
  •  A report claims that Apple will pay three times more for the new iPad Pro OLED panels than it does for the iPhones.
  • Besides the new OLED display panels, the iPad Pro tablets will be powered by the Apple 3nm M3 chipset. There could also be a MagSafe charging support for the premium models.

Apple foldable phone could be in the works

Apple is working on a new foldable device and this will have a larger screen compared to most foldable phones available on the market, according to a report from The Elec. The model is speculated to have a display which is comparable to the latest iPad Mini.

The report says the inner screen of the new foldable is tipped to be anywhere around 7.6 and 8.4 inches. If the report is indeed true, the device could be Apple’s first foldable phone or tablet and this may launch either by 2026 or 2027. This could replace the iPad Mini, which was refreshed in 2021. This tablet has an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina IPS LCD screen and is powered by the A15 Bionic.

An earlier report says that Apple is working on upgrading the iPad Mini with an OLED display. This model is likely to feature a slightly larger display at an 8.7-inch screen compared to the 8.4-inch on the outgoing variant. This refresh is expected to launch in 2026.
