iPhone 16 series chipset details leaked
- The latest report suggests that all iPhone 16 series models will come with the latest A18 chipset.
- This means Apple will no longer use the previous year’s chipset for base models.
- Jeff Pu, in his research note with Haitong International Securities this week, claimed that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus would feature a new A18 Bionic processor. While the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will come with the A18 Pro SoC.
- Apple had finally let go of the Bionic nomenclature this year with the A17 Pro.
- Since the iPhone 16 series is still a year away, things might change at any juncture.
- In addition to the naming structure, Pu also predicts that next year’s processor will bring significant upgrades.
- The A18 chipset will be fabricated using the 2nd gen 3nm chipset process from TSMC called N3E.

The new processor is believed to be not only affordable but also more efficient compared to the first-generation N3B 3nm process. The N3B process has been used on the A17 Pro chipset that powers the iPhone 15 Pro models.
Jeff Pu has been pretty accurate when it comes to Apple leaks. He was the first to suggest the iPhone 15 Pro Max would be more expensive than the predecessor and that the Pro versions would have 8GB RAM.
