Alleged iPhone 17 dummy units reveal colour options, including a bold orange variant
Apple’s iPhone launches always generate excitement, from tech enthusiasts to everyday users. Recent leaks reveal key details about the iPhone 17 lineup, including design changes, colours, and hardware. The leak, from tipster Sonny Dickson on X, shows the entire iPhone 17 lineup in all rumoured colour variants. While we’ve seen most of them already, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max in a bright orange colour is something new. It’s also a very bold choice for the Pro models, as Apple usually goes with more subtle and muted colours for this lineup.
The leaked image shows the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max dummy units in four colours: black, white, navy blue, and a bold, bright orange – a standout shade and a first for Apple’s Pro lineup (though the final name could differ). Previously, Apple has experimented with various shades of orange, such as the orange and Pink mix on the iPhone XR Coral. You might also recall the iPhone 5c in Pink. While we’ve seen colourful options in affordable iPhones in the past, it’s interesting to see the Pro models, which typically get muted colours, getting a bright orange shade.

We’ve already covered the design change in detail. Apple is going for a large camera bar this time, which might be refreshing to see. This camera design is also being compared with POCO phones, as the latter is known to launch phones with a large black camera island. There’s also a rumour that Apple might switch to aluminium for the Pro models, and keep the premium titanium for the iPhone 17 Air.
The iPhone 17 remains unchanged, which makes sense since Apple already introduced a new design last year with the iPhone 16. The leaked image shows two vertically-stacked cameras in four colours this time for the iPhone 17: black, white, blue, and pink.
The iPhone 17 Air could be this year’s biggest change. Replacing the Plus model, it keeps the large size but comes in a slimmer, lighter frame – possibly thinner than even the iPhone 6 (6.9mm). It’s rumoured to measure 163mm tall and 77.6mm wide, putting it in direct competition with Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge. Interestingly, Apple, which is usually one to avoid trends, might be setting one this time.
According to the latest leaked image, the iPhone 17 Air will also be available in Black, White, Blue, and Yellow as well. The iPhone 17 Air also features a camera bar, though slimmer than the one on the Pro models. It’s a thinner strip housing a single camera sensor on the left and the LED flash on the right side. The iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 look more uniform in terms of colour.
Other than these design changes and new colours, the iPhone 17 series will offer incremental upgrades, such as a new A18 Pro and A18 chip, upgraded cameras, and finally a 120Hz screen for the vanilla models. There’s quite a lot to look forward to, especially if you’ve been waiting for a Pro model that breaks away from Apple’s usual muted tones.
