Motorola is slowly, but surely becoming a household name yet again. Its recipe of near stock-Android experience and specs that matched the price tag seems to be doing wonders for the company whose smartphone’s operation was taken over by Lenovo back in 2014. Motorola has managed to pull off some great value-for-money offerings in the last couple of years. Be it the flagships or affordable ones, the Motorola smartphones are making a good impact on the overly crowded industry in India. It looks like the OEM is doubling down on its efforts for its upcoming devices. Here is a list of smartphones that are expected to launch in 2023 in India.

1. Motorola Edge 40 Pro

Motorola recently unveiled the Moto X40 in China, and if the previous track record of the X series is anything to go by, it could come to the global and Indian market as the Moto Edge 40 Pro while carrying the same design and specifications. Speaking of specifications, the handset rocks the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. A huge 6.7-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display with 165Hz refresh rate support is on the front. Coming to the optics, the device has a 50MP main shooter, a 50MP ultra-wide angle camera, and a 12 telephoto lens. Selfie and video calling needs are taken care of by the 60MP front camera housed within the centred punch hole of the display. The Moto X40 packs a 4600mAh battery unit with 125W fast wired and 15W wireless charging support.

Motorola Razr 40 Ultra


The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is the company’s next-gen foldable flagship smartphone that is coming to India on July 3rd. The big highlight of this flip-style phone is that it packs a large pOLED cover display of 3.6-inches, the biggest in any flip phone from recent times. This will allow users to get more stuff done without having the need to access the inner display for each and every small task.

As for the specifications, the Razr 40 Ultra boasts the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM, 144Hz refresh rate on the outer display and 165Hz refresh rate on the inner 6.9-inch FHD+ pOLED display, a 12MP primary camera with OIS along with a 13MP ultra-wide angle lens, a 32MP selfie shooter, and a 3,800mAh battery with 33W TurboPower fast charging and 5W wireless charging support

As the name suggests, the Motorola Razr 40 is a stripped-down version of the Razr 40 Ultra that misses out on the large cover display and instead features a horizontal 1.47-inch AMOLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate. However, the inner display’s dimensions remain the same at 6.9-inch but feature a 144Hz refresh rate instead of 165Hz found in the Razr 40 Ultra.

Running under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor that is coupled with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The cameras on the Razr 40 are taken care of by a 64MP primary camera and a 13MP ultra-wide camera along with a 32MP selfie shooter. On the battery front, the flip phone carries a 4,200mAh cell with 33W TurboPower fast charging and 5W wireless charging support.

3. Moto G53 5G


The Moto G53 has been announced for the European market and is priced at EUR 250 for the single 4GB + 128GB storage variant. The handset is expected to land in India in the next couple of months as the successor to the G52 which was a 4G smartphone. As for the specifications, The Moto G53 5G flaunts a large 6.5-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. Running under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ SoC paired with LPDDR4X RAM. The device comes with a 50MP main shooter and an 8MP ultrawide angle lens on the rear while on the front a 16MP selfie snapper takes care of selfies and video calls. The phone boots on Android 13 and packs in a 5000mAh battery with 10W charging support.

4. Moto G53s

While the Moto G53 has been unveiled in Europe and China, the company is already planning on launching its variant in the form of Moto G53s. The device has been recently spotted on the Google Play Console listing which indicates the smartphone could soon be made official in Motorola’s key markets. As for the specifications, the listing reveals that the Moto G53s may come with a Snapdragon SM4350 chipset, which is most likely the Snapdragon 480 SoC that could be paired with 4GB RAM. It is said to run on the latest Android 13 OS with Moto’s MyUX skin on top.

5. Moto G23

The Moto G23 recently debuted in the European market for EUR 230. The handset could also be unveiled in India during the first couple of months of 2023. Coming to the specifications, the Moto G23 sports a 6.5-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Powering up the handset is the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage that is expandable via a MicroSD card.

At the rear, the G23 carries a 50MP main camera, 5MP ultrawide sensor, and 2MP macro lens while on the front there is a 16MP selfie camera. The device runs on Android 13 with a close-to-stock Android interface. Providing juice to the smartphone is a 5000mAh battery with 30W fast charging support.
