iPhone SE 2024
This information comes from Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Tom O’Malley who have reportedly had conversations with companies in Apple’s supply chains, according to a report by Android Headlines. Apple has been developing its own 5G modem for the last couple of years. It currently uses Qualcomm’s 5G modem for its iPhones. With an in-house 5G modem, Apple will be able to stop relying on Qualcomm for its future iPhones.
But going by this information it seems like we won’t getting a new iPhone SE for another year as it won’t have 5G support. It’s also unlikely if we’ll even see one in the future because according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, mass production of Apple’s 5G modem will begin only in 2025. This also means that even next year’s iPhone 16 will continue with Qualcomm’s 5G modem.
There’s quite a lot expected from the 4th gen iPhone SE in terms of design and hardware upgrades. Apple might do away with the old thick bezel design and opt for a similar design as the iPhone 14 which means it will be a full-screen iPhone. The physical Touch ID button will also disappear keeping in line with the new design.
Apple didn’t bring much of a change with last year’s iPhone SE as it carried the same design as the 3rd gen model. It is still the most affordable iPhone though, and it comes with a 4.7-inch LCD display, Touch ID button and is powered by the A15 Bionic chip.
