Nothing Phone (2a) fake vs likely real design: spot the difference

Fake design: The Nothing Phone (2a) renders shared by Smartprix in collaboration with OnLeaks are inaccurate, as confirmed by Steve aka OnLeaks himself. In it, we see the rear cameras — still vertical and placed directly on the back panel. The patterns on the back also appear different, and the Glyph Interface’s omission is glaring.

However, as reputed tipster Evan Blass commented on OnLeaks’s Phone (2a) render, it wasn’t the “standard Foxconn-sourced, CAD-based @onleaks leak” so his usual accuracy wasn’t to be expected.

Next, he also points out that the vertical rear camera placement on the OnLeaks’s render doesn’t align with Nothing’s Phone (2a) tagline, “See the world through fresh eyes”. He remarks a horizontal camera setup would be fresh like the tagline suggests.

Seemingly real design: Evan Blass has shared a concept image of the device that looks like a better representation of the Phone (2a). In it, the dual rear cameras reside within a circular island. They are horizontally placed.

Well, even Nothing Phone (2a)’s alleged designs in a previously leaked prototype and live images match this design. So, this could be the real design. That said, we urge you to wait for the official confirmation. Until then, take every leak and rumour with a pinch of salt. That applies to the following details as well.

Nothing Phone (2a) is expected to launch at MWC 2024 stage on February 27. It could come with a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC, up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, a 4,290mAh battery with 45W fast charging support, a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide sensor, and a 16MP selfie shooter.
