OnePlus 15T tipped to offer wireless charging with MagSafe compatibility and ultra-thin cooling magnet

Highlights
  • OnePlus 15T may come with MagSafe charging compatibility.
  • It’s also tipped to launch with an ultra-thin magnetic cooling accessory.
  • OnePlus 15T is expected to launch in China next month.

OnePlus 15T has been officially teased by the brand and is expected to launch as early as March. This is the second compact smartphone from OnePlus after the 13T, which is believed to have paved the way for more compact flagships. With the OnePlus 15T, the brand seems to have raised the bar by teasing the phone as a small-screen powerhouse with industry-leading performance and battery life. A new leak now suggests the OnePlus 15T will feature wireless charging and an ultra-thin accessory.

Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that the OnePlus 15T will feature standard wireless charging, along with support for Apple’s MagSafe wireless charging ecosystem. This means that the OnePlus 15T will be compatible with Apple’s MagSafe accessories, like chargers and battery packs. Wireless charging itself would be an upgrade for the OnePlus 15T as its predecessor, the OnePlus 13T, did not support it.

Another interesting prediction made is the launch of what’s claimed to be the industry’s first ultra-thin magnetic heat sink (translated), which is less than 1cm thick. This is a magnetic cooling accessory that you can snap on the back of the OnePlus 15T to reduce heat dissipation while gaming or other intensive activities.

DCS even shared an image of what’s supposed to be the magnetic cooling accessory sitting next to a OnePlus 27W Freezing Point Magnetic Cooler. This shows how incredibly thin the cooling magnet is, making it a convenient accessory that you can snap on the back of the phone and still use it without any obvious intrusion. The added advantage is that the phone stays cool even if you’re gaming for a long duration.

The OnePlus 15T is teased to offer “comprehensive leaps in system smoothness, gaming performance, imaging capabilities, screen quality, and charging experience”. This suggests some major upgrades under the hood for the upcoming OnePlus compact flagship.

Leaks have already given us an idea of what to expect from the OnePlus 15T. The handset could feature a compact 6.32-inch display with a 1.5K resolution. The refresh rate could be increased from 120Hz to 165Hz, like the latest OnePlus flagships. Cameras might get an upgrade, too, from the existing 50MP main sensor on the 15T to a 200MP one. This could be paired with a 50MP telephoto camera, along with a 32MP selfie shooter.

The OnePlus 15T will most likely be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, making performance a key area for the compact phone. Battery is also set to get a major upgrade with a 7,500mAh cell paired with 100W wired charging and wireless charging support. OnePlus 13T launched with a 6,260mAh battery.

After its debut in China, the OnePlus 15T is expected to arrive in India as the OnePlus 15s. If so, then the OnePlus 15s would be a compact flagship to watch out for, especially if performance and battery life are your priorities. Although an India launch isn’t confirmed, it’s likely that the OnePlus 15s will debut here too, since the 13s did as well. So anyone looking to upgrade from the 13s or to a compact flagship may want to wait for the 15s.
