The OnePlus Nord series phones have enjoyed immense popularity in their price segments, and naturally, the new CE4 brought about a lot of buzz with its launch. We recently conducted a performance comparison between the Nord CE4 and Nord CE3, so let’s now delve into a battery comparison between both smartphones to find out what upgrades the new Nord offers.

PCMark benchmark
The PCMark battery benchmark assesses the time it takes for a smartphone’s battery to drop from 100 percent to under 20 percent. The OnePlus Nord CE4 registered a total time of 16 hours and 2 minutes to drop under 20 percent, while the Nord CE3 took 14 hours and 23 minutes to achieve the same. The results are in line with expectations, as the Nord CE4 boasts a bigger battery.

Video streaming
We set both phones to stream the same 30-minute YouTube video at similar resolution, brightness, and volume settings to gauge the battery drain on each device. The OnePlus Nord CE4 and Nord CE3 showcased a battery drain of 3 percent and 4 percent, respectively, at the end of the streaming test. This showed us that the Nord CE4 had a slower battery drain in comparison to its predecessor and hence wins this test.

Gaming test
To gauge the battery drain, we played BGMI on both phones for 30 minutes each and at similar graphical settings. The OnePlus Nord CE4 registered a battery drain of 7 percent at the end of the test, while the Nord CE3 registered a battery drain of 8 percent. The OnePlus Nord CE4 wins the gaming test with a very slight margin.

Charging speed
In terms of charging speeds, the Nord CE4 comes with 100W SuperVOOC fast charging support and takes 35 minutes to recharge completely from 20 percent to 100 percent. In comparison, the Nord CE3 comes with 80W SuperVOOC fast charging support and takes roughly 51 minutes to achieve the same.

Verdict
Unsurprisingly, the OnePlus Nord CE4 wins the battery comparison against the Nord CE3. Being the direct successor to the OnePlus Nord CE3, the smartphone brings quite a few upgrades, such as the increased 5,500mAh battery and improved fast charging support. While the Nord CE4 is undoubtedly better, the Nord CE3 also showcased an impressive result and is just slightly behind the new Nord when it comes to battery performance.
If you’re a Nord CE3 user, you don’t really need to upgrade to the latest Nord CE4, as the phone holds up extremely well even in 2024, be it in terms of battery life, performance output, or camera capabilities.
