OnePlus Nord N100 not launching in India, so should you buy OPPO A53 instead?

OnePlus Nord N100 specifications are similar to the OPPO A53. The latter is available in India while the Nord N100 will not be launching in India.

OnePlus Nord N100 is officially the company’s cheapest smartphone and it was launched alongside the Nord N10 5G earlier this week. The phones will be available in Europe and North America but will not launch in India. While the Nord N10 5G will be missed, the Nord N100 has a pretty good alternative in India in the OPPO A53 (review). To recall, OnePlus Nord N100 specifications including Snapdragon 460 SoC, HD+ screen, 5,000mAh battery, and triple rear cameras. These specs are also found on the OPPO A53. OnePlus Nord N100 vs OPPO A53: Specifications

OnePlus Nord N100 seems to be heavily inspired by OPPO A53, which was launched in India back in August. Both smartphones tout a punch-hole display, dual SIM support, and user-expandable storage (up to 256GB). The handsets pack a 6.52-inch display that bears an HD+ (720 x 1,600 pixels) resolution. Notably, the OPPO A53 supports a high 90Hz refresh rate while the Nord N100 offers a standard 60Hz refresh rate.

The OPPO A53 has a higher screen refresh rate and better selfie camera compared to OnePlus Nord N100.

The OPPO A53 also has a slightly better front-facing camera as well. The handset features a 16MP selfie camera as opposed to an 8MP camera on the Nord N100. The rear camera setup in a rectangular module on both phones comprises of 13MP primary sensor with EIS, 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP macro lens. Software-wise, the Nord N100 A53 runs Android 10-based OxygenOS 10.5 out of the box, while OPPO A53 ships with ColorOS 7.2 atop Android 10. 

Under the hood, both OnePlus Nord N100 and OPPO A53 are powered by the Snapdragon 460 SoC paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The A53 also has a 6GB RAM + 128GB storage option. The phones house a 5,000mAh battery and support 18W fast charging. Both devices also come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for security, stereo speakers, and a headphone jack. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C.

OnePlus Nord N100 vs OPPO A53: Price

OnePlus Nord N100 price in Europe is set at GBP 179 (~ Rs 17,300) for the lone 4GB RAM model. The phone comes in just Midnight Frost colour option. On the other hand, the OPPO A53 price in India has been set at Rs 12,990 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, while the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage option comes with a Rs 15,490 price tag. The smartphone is available for sale in the country in Electric Black, Fairy White, and Fancy Blue colour options.
