POCO M7 Plus launched in India with a 7,000mAh battery, 144Hz display, and Snapdragon 6s Gen 3

Highlights
  • POCO M7 Plus price in India starts at Rs 13,999.
  • It has a large 6.9-inch FHD+ display.
  • POCO M7 Plus is the first phone under Rs 15,000 with a 7,000mAh battery.

The POCO M7 Plus launched in India on Wednesday, becoming the third model in the M7 lineup after the POCO M7 and M7 Pro. True to its name, the M7 Plus features a large 6.9-inch display and a standout 7,000mAh battery. Large battery capacities are becoming a popular trend now, with phones offering even more than 7,000mAh. However, the M7 Plus is the only phone so far to offer this capacity under Rs 15,000. That distinction may be short-lived, though, as the Redmi 15 5G is set to launch next week with the same battery size and (likely) similar price.

The M7 Plus uses silicon-carbon battery technology, enabling a slimmer design while delivering faster charging and improved battery longevity. According to POCO, the phone can deliver up to 144 hours of offline music playback, 27 hours of social media use, 12 hours of navigation, and 24 hours of video streaming. POCO claims the battery will retain 80 percent of its health even after four years of usage. You also get 18W reverse charging to charge other phones or smaller devices. Based on capacity alone, it should comfortably last more than a day on a single charge with regular usage, though we’ll know for sure once we put it through our in-house tests.

The new POCO handset also features a large 6.9-inch FHD+ display (2340 x 1080 pixels), the biggest under Rs 15,000. It’s an HD+ display with a 144Hz refresh rate, 288Hz touch sampling rate, 700 nits peak brightness, and TUV Rheinland certification for eye protection. The display specs are on par with most phones in this price segment.

The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset, which was launched in June 2024. The chipset is over a year old and built on the 6nm process, as opposed to the faster, more efficient 4nm process, which is found in most phones under Rs 15,000. Some of these include the Vivo T4x and Infinix Note 50x, powered by the faster MediaTek Dimensity 7300. The M7 Plus houses a 50MP primary camera with an unspecified sensor, and an 8MP front-facing camera. These are decent camera specs for its price.

The M7 Plus runs HyperOS 2.0 with Android 15 out of the box. It will get two OS upgrades (up to Android 17) and four years of security updates. This software support is quite standard for phones in the same price segment. The smartphone has an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance. While this is common, there are phones like the Realme P3x and Realme 14x offering up to IP69, the highest rating available. In terms of design, the POCO M7 Plus resembles the POCO F7 more than its siblings, particularly in its vertical camera setup. The handset is available in Chrome Silver, Aqua Blue, and Carbon Black colours.

The POCO M7 Plus is priced at Rs 13,999 for the base model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, and Rs 14,999 for the top-end model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The smartphone will be available to purchase on August 19th at 12 noon, exclusively on Flipkart. In comparison to its predecessor, the POCO M6 Plus, the new model offers notable upgrades with a faster chipset, a bigger battery, and a better IP rating. However, the camera might seem downgraded from 108MP to 50MP on the M7 Plus.

On paper, the POCO M7 Plus is a battery and display powerhouse, but chipset choice and camera downgrade could be deal-breakers for some. The rest of its specs are more or less the same as what’s being offered in this price segment. Heavy content consumers, travellers, and those who value reliable battery life will get the most out of it. If chipset speed is a priority for you, consider looking at 4nm-powered rivals from Vivo and Infinix.
