PS5 India launch news has delivered a whirlwind of emotions to fans. After months of uncertainty on when the next-gen gaming console would release in the country, we finally got a release date earlier this month. Today, PS5 pre-orders in India went live at 12 PM IST and fans could order their console online through platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, and a few more. However, eager fans were left disappointed as PS5 pre-orders went out of stock through most channels in a matter of seconds. In fact, we at 91mobiles tried to order a console on Amazon and it was listed as unavailable at 12 PM IST.

The disappointment with regards to PS5 pre-orders in India was expected given the way Sony India has been handling the situation in the country. While the console was globally released in December, the India release was delayed by two months and is now expected to launch on February 2nd. Furthermore, only the PS5 Blu-ray variant went up for pre-orders today while the release of the Digital Edition has been delayed. Given the way the pre-orders have gone today, we don’t expect anything different on launch day as well.

According to a report by The Mako Reactor, only 12,000 to 15,000 consoles will be available on launch day across India, which means your chances of purchasing a PS5 unit will remain slim for the foreseeable future. Interestingly, soon after the PS5 went on pre-orders in India, scalpers were spotted selling units on platforms like OLX. While Amazon and Flipkart did not show any units available, some managed to get their hands on the console through the Reliance Digital website.

It seems unlikely that there will be another PS5 pre-order date before the launch on February 2nd. For those who missed out on ordering a console today, they can try their luck on launch day through Reliance Digital, which seems to have been helpful for some buyers.
