Realme will be launching its first U-series smartphone in India on November 28th. Dubbed the Realme U1, the handset marks the debut of a new selfie-focused series for the brand. However, that's not all, the Realme U1 is also the world's first smartphone to utilise MediaTek's latest Helio P70. The new chipset comes in as a successor to the Helio P60 SoC that was used in the debut device from the company — the Realme 1 (review). Now, thanks to unofficial sources, 91mobiles has managed to obtain AnTuTu benchmarks of not only the U1, but how well it compares with its potential competitors as well.
Both MediaTek's Helio P60 and P70 are manufactured using the same 12nm fabrication process, so they are at par with each other when it comes to performance and efficiency balance. However, the latest chipset from the company gets a higher clock speed and 10 to 30 percent more efficiency while processing AI tasks. This results in an improvement of over 13 percent in the overall performance, as per MediaTek. This reflects in the benchmark scores as well, where the Realme U1 (on the extreme right) has scored 1,45,021.
The Realme U1 clearly seems to be ahead of the competition. With a score of 1,39,974, Kirin 710-powered Honor 8X remains at the second spot. Whereas the Redmi Note 6 Pro — which is equipped with the Snapdragon 626 chipset — is trailing behind both these devices with a score of 1,15,611. While benchmarking scores are not an indicator of real-life performance, it does gives a hint of what to expect. In fact, the P70 silicon could very well be the fastest processor in its segment, making the U1 a great choice for power users and gamers.
Interestingly, you can also notice that the Realme U1 will offer an impressive screen-to-body ratio as it'll feature a waterdrop notch design up front. This suggests that the Amazon-exclusive handset could be the most affordable device in India with such a small-sized cut-out atop its display. Just yesterday, we were able to get out first look at the rear of the phone, which revealed that the U1 will offer a glass back, dual rear cameras and a fingerprint scanner. Putting all these together, the Realme U1 is shaping up to be a budget smartphone to look out for.
