News of the next Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1-powered Redmi K50 series handset has been lurking over the internet for a while now. Speculations of this handset’s name were either Redmi K50 Ultra or Redmi K50S Pro. Clearing things up comes a recent Weibo post from Redmi revealing the device’s name is Redmi K50 Extreme Edition, and it will see a launch event this month.
However, Xiaomi could still market it as Redmi K50 Ultra. To recall – in 2022 – Xiaomi marketed the Redmi K30 Ultra as the “Redmi K30S Extreme Commemorative Edition”. We might see something similar with Redmi K50 Extreme Edition. Word on the internet is the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition will come to India and global shores in one of the Xiaomi 12T lineup’s handset disguise, likely Xiaomi 12T Pro.
Previously, the handset was spotted on the 3C certification, hinting that Redmi K50 Extreme Edition would indeed come as Xiaomi 12T Pro in the global market. This certification also revealed that the handset has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship processor and supports 120W fast charging technology. Apart from this, we can also expect up to 12GB RAM with 256GB internal storage and an AMOLED panel that supports a 120Hz refresh rate.
The brand revealed (via) Redmi K50 Extreme Edition SoC details and stated that this month would see the release of the phone, which will be powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. According to the company, the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition is “redesigned and upgraded across the board” and will be the “ultimate masterpiece of the K50 universe.”
