Highlights

The Redmi K90 Max is now confirmed to launch in China on April 21st, aligning with earlier leaks and rumours. Alongside the launch date, the company has also revealed a few key specifications. The device will be powered by the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9500 SoC and pack a massive 8,550mAh battery, positioning it as a performance-focused offering. Additionally, it has been teased to feature a new eye protection mode, based on translated details from Chinese promotional material.

Redmi K90 Max details

The Redmi K90 Max is tipped to arrive in India as the Xiaomi 17T, and going by its specifications, it’s certainly one to watch. Earlier teasers also confirmed that the device will feature “the biggest fan ever put inside a smartphone,” aimed at aggressive thermal management. This cooling system is claimed to reduce temperatures by up to 10 degrees Celsius in roughly 100 seconds. While built-in fans aren’t entirely new to smartphones, the Redmi K90 Max could stand out by pairing this feature with an IP66/IP68/IP69-rated design for water and dust resistance.

Speaking of the design, the handset has been teased to sport a large camera plateau, somewhat reminiscent of the iPhone 17 Pro. The module is expected to house a dual-camera setup, an LED flash, and air vents for the built-in cooling fan. On the front, the device is geared for gaming, with a display featuring a 165Hz refresh rate. It remains to be seen whether the panel will be optimised to deliver 165fps in supported titles, similar to what we’ve seen on select OnePlus devices, but it will offer DC dimming and scale its brightness down to as low as 1 nit for an easier viewing experience in dimly-lit environments.
