The third 200MP phone camera?
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has received praise for its photography performance, and it will be challenging for Samsung to produce a handset that performs better the following year. A new leak, however, suggests the Galaxy S23 Ultra might be able to do that. Previously, we discovered a leak that revealed the Samsung Galaxy S23 series would be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and feature a 40MP selfie camera.

The 200MP camera for the Galaxy S23 Ultra is brought into the spotlight by Ice Universe, but that camera's sensor is unknown. A 200MP Galaxy S23 Ultra has been in the news for a while, but the leaker has clarified one crucial detail. Currently, there are just two 200MP smartphone sensors available: the Samsung ISOCELL HP1 and ISOCELL HP3. The former will debut on Motorola's X30 Pro/ Edge 30 Ultra soon, and the HP3 is a mid-range sensor, which could come with upcoming mid-range smartphones. Xiaomi 12T Pro is also rumoured to get a 200MP camera.
The leaker suggests that the 200MP camera sensor on the Galaxy S23 Ultra isn't the alleged HP1 or the HP3, for that matter. While the configuration of this sensor is still under wraps, it remains to be seen whether it will outperform Motorola's X30 Pro/ Edge 30 Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra in terms of photography performance.
