Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could get a new telephoto lens
- The 50MP 5x telephoto lens will be a 1/2/52-inch sensor with tiny 0.7-micron pixels for both 3x and 5x zoom, according to the leak shared by Ice Universe.
- While the Samsung Galaxy Ultra phones only featured a 10MP periscope lens, the long-range zoom images were still better than other photos.
- This change to a telephoto lens might come as a disappointment for Samsung or for smartphone fans in general who are into clicking 10x zoom images.
Google Pixel 7 Pro uses image cropping from a 48MP 5x periscope camera paired with an in-house imaging algorithm to deliver decent 10x shots. However, the picture quality tends to drop drastically when the zoom is exceeded beyond 15x. We can expect a similar challenge for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra if the rumour regarding the 50MP 5x camera is indeed true.
