Details on affordable Samsung foldable phones
- According to a new report, Samsung has confirmed they won’t make midrange foldable smartphones.
- They denied rumours suggesting that the Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold, expected to launch next summer, might be priced as low as $400 (Rs 33,292).
“We don’t plan to manufacture foldable smartphones that are priced in the midrange, and the latest rumours are groundless,” a spokesperson from Samsung Electronics told Korea JoongAng Daily.
Recently, a tipster named @Tech_Reve on X (formerly Twitter), suggested that the new Samsung foldable phones might cost between $400 and $500, describing it as an ambitious target.
Meanwhile, some leakers thought Samsung might release a fan edition of the foldable phones, keeping the outer look and some key features like the camera but with a less powerful processor and other parts.
However, launched globally in July, Samsung’s Galaxy Z-series foldable smartphones are currently in the expensive category, positioned just below the flagship S series.
In India, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 was launched in two storage choices – 8GB+256GB at Rs 99,999 and 8GB+512GB at Rs 109,999. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 was launched in three storage options – 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, and 12GB+1TB, priced at Rs 154,999, Rs 164,999, and Rs 184,999, respectively.
