The new Tata Nexon EV facelift gets a Tata Curvv concept car-inspired connected LED light bars on both the front and back which can perform a “hello” or “goodbye” sequence. While the taillights are similar to the ICE version, the “smart digital DRLs” at the front perform functions such as being the charging indicator. The facade is certainly more modern-looking with new R16 alloys, again borrowed from the ICE version of the car.

The Nexon EV facelift borrows five colour options from the ICE variant, namely Flame Red, Fearless Purple, Creative Ocean, Pristine White, and Daytona Gray. The Nexon EV-exclusive colour options are Empowered Oxide and Intensi Teal. The rear wipers are hidden under the spoiler of the car. All wheels feature a disc brake, there are Hill descent and ascent controls, a blind-spot view monitor, 360-degree cameras, an auto hold function and parking sensors on both the front and at the back.

Safety is an important aspect when buying any car, hence, Tata provides 6 airbags with the Nexon EV. The brand calls the refreshed cabin a “digital dashboard.” The back tilt steering wheel is again Curvv-inspired with two spokes and multiple controls. There is a digital shifter and a touch-based physical climate control panel.

The 12.3-inch voice-assistant-enabled infotainment system comes with Tata’s new “Arcade.ev” app suite with support for at least 15 apps such as Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar and Gaana. The JBL-branded nine-speaker system provides multiple audio modes. Other features include a fully customisable digital cockpit with embedded maps, an air purifier, a wireless charger, 45W USB-C ports, an electronic parking brake, air purifier and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.

The Nexon EV is loaded with functions such as an electric sunroof, rear AC vents, ventilated seats, an SOS call button, and a cooled glove box. Auto headlamps and rain-sensing wipers are also something the Nexon EV facelift does not miss out on. The Z Connect app will help you remotely control your car through your phone.

Tata Nexon EV facelift range, battery and charging

Instead of opting for a Max moniker like its predecessor, the Nexon EV now comes in Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR) options with a Gen 2 motor. The MR option has a 30kWh battery with a 325Km ARAI certified range and produces a power of 95kW, can go from 0-100 in 9.2 seconds and features a torque of 215Nm.

The LR version on the other hand provides a 465Km ARAI-certified range thanks to the 40.5kWh battery and upgraded power of 106.4kW. This variant can go from 0-100 in 8.9 seconds. There’s a multi-mode regen with paddle shifters, multi-drive modes and an IP67 rating. A vehicle-to-load or vehicle-to-vehicle technology helps you charge your devices or another EV through the Nexon EV’s charging port, similar to what Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 can do.

When it comes to charging options, a 7.2kW AC charger for home takes 4.3 hours from 10-100% in the MR variant and 6 hours for the LR variant. Standard AC or 15A portable charger takes 10.5 hours and 15 hours for respective variants. A DC fast charger takes just about 56 minutes for both variants.

The pricing and availability of the new Tata Nexon EV will be made public on September 14th. It comes in Empowered, Fearless and Creative models.
