Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023 had a little bit of everything. From brand new announcements to a closer look at previously announced titles, gamers have a lot to look out for. This includes games like Starfield and Mortal Kombat 1, which are scheduled to launch in a few weeks. In this piece, we will be looking at some of the best announcements made at Gamescom Opening Night Live.

Starfield

Starfield might be releasing in a few weeks (September 6 for the standard edition), but that didn’t stop people from being super-hyped about the game. Not only did Bethesda Game Director, Todd Howard, make his first appearance at Gamescom, but gamers were also treated to a live-action trailer for the game. Howard went on to hype up Bethesda’s newest title, but also some in-game action.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

The latest instalment in the Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare III, is set to release on November 10th. At Gamescom, players got an extended look at the game’s first level, Operation 627. Interestingly, this level is set in Verdansk, the original map for Call of Duty: Warzone.

Alan Wake 2

Fans of the survival horror genre are eagerly awaiting October 17th as that’s when Alan Wake 2 is set to release. At Gamescom, we got a look at the gameplay from the game. A key aspect seems to be how the game will merge live-action footage with in-game action. It gives over ‘Quantum Break’ vibes, which was also developed by Remedy Entertainment.

Mortal Kombat 1

Mortal Kombat 1 is another big launch scheduled for September. The game is already packed with some of the most popular characters in the series’ history, along with an additional roster of ‘Kameo’ characters. At Gamescom, it was revealed that Sindel and General Shao will be joining the roster, while Motaro and Shujinko will return as Kameo characters. You can check out our first impressions of the beta version here.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Set to launch on October 5th, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the latest game in the long-running series. Unlike many other open-world titles, the setting of Assassin’s Creed is just as important as its characters and story. The new trailer at Gamescom gave us a better look at Baghdad, the location for Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The game is set to launch on October 5.
