Top tech news this week: OnePlus 12 launch date, OPPO Reno 11 series launched, and more

The tech world is busy again with smartphone launches from Chinese brands. Just this week, we saw the OPPO Reno 11 series debut along with the Honor 100 series. OnePlus also revealed the launch date for its flagship phone, OnePlus 12. In the non-smartphone side of things, Instagram launched a Reels download button on the app. We also got to know about Jio’s plans to launch a cloud laptop.

OnePlus 12 launch date revealed

After much anticipation and numerous leaks, OnePlus finally revealed the launch for its next flagship phone. OnePlus 12 launch date falls on December 4th, which will also mark the company’s 10th anniversary. OnePlus 12 will debut in China followed by a global launch most likely in January. It’s confirmed to feature a new Sony LYT-808 sensor, and launch in White, Rock Black, and Ever Green colours.

Alleged OPPO Reno 11 series renders

OPPO Reno 11, 11 Pro launched

OPPO’s new Reno smartphone series is now official in China. The OPPO Reno 11 and Reno 11 Pro smartphones come with 120Hz displays, up to 12GB of RAM, Android 14, triple rear cameras, and 32MP front camera. The Pro model offers 80W fast charging support, and it’s powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. In China, the OPPO Reno 11 series starts at RMB 3,499 which translates to roughly Rs 41,100. 

Instagram Reels download button

Instagram finally launched a Reels download button. Now you can directly download Reels from the app, and not rely on third-party apps. This feature was first launched in the US earlier this year. It is now available globally for everyone. You can find the download button from the ‘Share’ option. Do note that you can download Reels only from public accounts. Instagram also lets you disable the option for others to download your Reels. 

Reliance Jio cloud laptop

Reliance Jio is reportedly planning to launch a “cloud” laptop in India. This laptop will function entirely on the cloud including its processing and storage. This way the brand will save costs on hardware as everything will be on the cloud. Jio is also planning to launch cloud packages along with the laptop. There’s no confirmation yet on when we’ll see the Jio cloud laptop.

Honor 100 series launched

Honor 100 and Honor 100 Pro launched in China earlier this week. Honor 100 launched as the first phone with the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. The new Honor phones come with 120Hz OLED displays, 5,000mAh battery, and 100W fast charging support. The Honor 100 series comes with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. In China, the Honor 100 series has a starting price of CNY 2,499 (Rs 29,600 approx).
